Certification in "Downstream Processing"
The second phase of the "Going Up and Down in Bioprocessing" program focuses on the critical process of "Downstream Processing."

During this 8-week certification, participants will learn about the biotechnological processes that occur from the moment cells are opened to maintaining stable conditions for the formulation and commercialization of biological products, such as therapeutic proteins. This phase delves into the importance of post-extraction procedures, ensuring the purity and quality of products for use in the pharmaceutical and therapeutic industries. Upon completing this module, students will receive their certification in Downstream Processing.

Additionally, those who have completed both certifications (Upstream and Downstream Processing) will earn the certification in Applied Industrial Biotechnology, a key recognition in the industry. The course will begin on March 15, 2025. While most students who complete the first phase will enroll in this second phase, new participants are also welcome to join.

What you'll learn:
Protein extraction and purification processes for commercialization.
Enzymatic assays and characterization techniques such as ELISA and Western Blot.
Protein analysis and industrial production with a focus on stability and quality.
Familiarization with pharmaceutical excipients and lyophilization processes.
Certification in "Pharmacology and Therapeutics"
The third phase of the "Going Up and Down in Bioprocessing" program offers a unique certification in "Pharmacology and Therapeutics," exclusively available in Puerto Rico.

In this 8-week course, participants will learn about the pharmacology of various biotechnological products produced on the island and their therapeutic effects. This module delves into the relationship between biotechnology and medicine, exploring how therapies based on biological products can transform disease treatment. Upon completion, students will receive their certification in Pharmacology and Therapeutics, solidifying their specialization in the most advanced area of industrial biotechnology.

The course will begin on June 7, 2025. If you have not taken the previous phases, this is an excellent opportunity to start the training process, as we welcome new participants for this certification. This is the perfect moment to complete your training cycle and join the ranks of leading professionals in biotechnology and pharmacology, equipped with the specialized knowledge sought by the pharmaceutical industry.

What you will learn:
Fundamentals of pharmacology for biotechnological products.
Mechanisms of action, dosage, and therapeutic effects.
